Procedural Rules for Indian National Olympiad (INO)

  1. The use of unfair means will result in disqualification.

  1. Silence and decorum must be maintained in the examination hall and its precincts.

  1. The provisional solutions to the INO- 2012 papers will be uploaded on the February 1, 2012. Any comments regarding the same may be sent ONLY to the following addresses:

Astronomy:         inao2012@hbcse.tifr.res.in

Biology:               inbo2012@hbcse.tifr.res.in

Chemistry:           incho2012@hbcse.tifr.res.in

Junior Science:    injso2012@hbcse.tifr.res.in

Physics:               inpho2012@hbcse.tifr.res.in

The subject should indicate the question number(s) you want to comment on. For example:

Subject: Q. 7, 21 (where 7 and 21 are the questions you want to comment on in the email)

Alternatively you may send your comments by govt. post to the National Co-ordinator, Science Olympiads. Queries in any form addressed to individual staff / faculty will not be entertained.

The last date for considering these comments would be February 6, 2012. The Examination Board (EB) will deliberate on the comments and the decision of the EB will be final. The final solutions (with corrections, if any) will be uploaded on February 15, 2012. Kindly note that the EB will not reply to any query/comments individually.

  1. The INO-2012 Performance Card will be mailed to you around mid - February by Speed Post. You may appeal for re-evaluation of your answer-script. This appeal should be accompanied with your Performance Card, a stipulated fee and should be mailed within a stipulated time. Both, the stipulated fee and time will be indicated on the Performance Card mailed to you.

  1. No appeal for re-evaluation by email, telephone, fax or any other electronic means will be entertained. The appeal should be sent by registered/ speed post only (not by private courier).

  1. After re-evaluation, a revised performance card will be mailed to the candidate who has appealed. The scores after revaluation will be considered as final and definitive and will be used in preparing the merit list. No further appeals will be entertained.

  1. The decision of the Paper Grading Board will be final.

  1. HBCSE will not be responsible for any delays due to incomplete/ illegible/ incorrect address provided by the candidate or any other reasons beyond HBCSE’s control.

  1. Students must hold a valid Indian Passport as per the visa regulations of the country hosting the International Olympiad before the end of the respective Orientation –cum- Selection Camp (OCSC)*. It is the student's responsibility to determine that he/she satisfies eligibility norms. If at some later stage it is found that the student does not meet eligibility norms, he/she may face disqualification from the programme.

  1. Indian National Olympiad (INO) hall ticket must be preserved and must be presented at the time of OCSC.

FOR ASTRONOMY AND CHEMISTRY ONLY

  1. Starting this year, a student would have to declare his/her order of preference amongst overlapping OCSCs. In case he/she scores above the OCSC cut-off in more than one overlapping OCSC, he/she will be selected as per the preference given.

For the year 2012, OCSC for Astronomy is likely to overlap with Asian Physics olympiad as well as OCSCs for Chemistry, Mathematics and Earth Science. Similarly, OCSC for Chemistry is likely to overlap with Asian Physics olympiad as well as OCSCs for Astronomy, Mathematics and Earth Science. You will be asked to indicate your order of preference on the INAO/INChO answersheet.

If no order of preference is indicated, it would automatically imply that Astronomy/Chemistry OCSC is the least preferred option for you in respective INOs. Writing conflicting choices in different INO answersheets, may result in disqualification. No change of order of preference at a later date is allowed.

*If you do not have a valid Indian Passport, apply for it immediately.
